FOR THOSE READY TO WALK IN FREEDOM
Any lie we believe about ourselves can gain the power to keep us in bondage and rob us of hope. It can become a tyrant that oppresses and restrains us.
So how can we resist and overcome such influences when they take root in our lives? Remember the words of Jesus:
“Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Last week we identified and declared war on the tyrants that oppress us. As Jesus’s words reveal, embracing the truth will lead us to freedom. Eternal truth cannot be found within the confines or reasoning power of mortal man. It must be born out of a motive so pure no human can conceive it. It must come from someone superior to humans in every way. It can only come from God, who says:
“For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.”

God makes it clear: He doesn’t think like us. Because we are merely the created, we cannot even imagine His ways. As a matter of fact, God doesn’t do things—He embodies them. We live; He is life. We love: He is love. We think; He is knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. We dream; He is the fulfillment of every dream, even ones we are not yet capable of conceiving. He is the One whose power and guidance is what we need to walk unencumbered and free.
Jesus told His disciples, “I am the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6 NIV). These words hold true for you as well. He is the way you seek. He is the Truth who sets you free. He offers you the life you long for. Even now, He is drawing you closer to His side. He wants to be your companion and Lord as you journey from captivity to freedom.
We begin this journey by acknowledging our need for God and His help. If you’re seeking freedom today, ask God to sow the seeds of truth within you. He will take your fearful, hardened heart, remove the weeds, amend the soil, plant new seeds, and water them with His Word.
Are you ready for the Master Gardener to transform you? This week, allow the Holy Spirit to uproot the lies and replace them with the knowledge of Jesus Christ, who is truth. After all, it’s only the truth we know that sets us free!
